Legacy

Our Story

Co-founder Jenn Lui with her father

Welcome to Baba’s House. We are children of immigrants here to build legacies.

Baba always made it clear that family is everything.

He is a father of “atypical” Asian kids who have carved their own professional paths by nourishing community and creativity instead of choosing the corporate route often expected of children of immigrants.

Food is his love language. Baba’s eyes always lit up when we had friends over, sharing an endless flow of red wine and fond memories over the dinner table followed by several rounds of mahjong. This is the legacy our family builds in his honor: that warm feeling of home, joy, and nostalgia.

Thank you for everyone’s love, support, and stories throughout this entire journey. Let’s keep dreaming and building as possibilities are endless at Baba’s House.

Our Mission

We are an immersive community event space and Asian snack shop in downtown Oakland, CA.

We focus on events that uplift our AAPI/BIPOC and creative community, offering a space for creatives to explore and experiment with their unique passions.

We want everyone to feel at home and work hard to cultivate a loving, safe space for folks to come together.

Our ultimate goal is to form legacies, spark creativity, and build community.
